LISA STEPHENS

MBD Owner, mother, Choreographer, Dance and Yoga Instructor and Dance and Yoga Retreat organiser, founder of Bodyballet. Lisa has over 25 years experience in the dance industry as both a professional performer and teacher/choreographer. She is also very passionate about using dance and movement as therapy for both physical and mental ailments including trauma and anxiety.

 
Lisa is trained in and teaches classical ballet, Jazz, Flamenco, Musical Theatre, Street, Latin, Contemporary, Tap and Pas De Deux. She is also trained in using movement and breath work for therapy and healing.


Lisa has worked as a dancer, soloist, choreographer and producer in over 30 countries in Europe, America, South America, Asia and Africa in a variety of prestigious productions in theatres and commercially.
She was trained at the Urdang Dance Academy, London and the Northern Ballet School, Manchester, where she gained a National Diploma in Professional Dance and Choreography and RAD and ISTD classical ballet and modern theatre major examinations up to Advanced as well as teaching qualifications in a variety of dance styles, fitness and yoga.


Lisa has been teaching both syllabus and free dance and fitness classes to all levels and age groups, from all walks of life, at many dance and academic schools, leisure centres and private organisations for over a decade.

 

SHELBY DOVER
 
Shelby is a qualified best practice dance teacher with years of experience teaching both freelance and in education. Shelby trained at Creative Academy and completed her final year of her degree at Plymouth University before pursuing her career as a teacher completing her PGCE and QTLS teaching qualifications. She has worked as the Teacher of Dance at St Ives School and the Study Programme Manager for Dance at St Austell College receiving outstanding Ofsted feedback for performing arts with exceptional course data of 100% progression, retention, pass rate and achievement rate.

Shelby currently works as a Targeted Youth Worker and Freelance Dance Teacher. She has trained in styles including Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Commercial and Street-dance.  Shelby has explored other styles within her training including Bollywood, Lyrical, Musical Theatre and Tumbling. She is passionate about choreography and enjoys being creative and exploring with movement.

Alongside teaching, Shelby has a passion for fitness. She is a qualified gym instructor and working towards completing her nutritionist qualification. Her hobbies include running, attending the gym and baking.
